Osimhen, Chelsea, Al Ahli deal off, Napoli relationship broken – Romano

Image
In a dramatic twist to the 2024 summer transfer saga, Victor Osimhen’s highly anticipated move to Chelsea has collapsed. The deal fell through with just two hours left before the transfer window closed, as the Nigerian forward and the Premier League side failed to reach an agreement. Osimhen’s prospects of moving to Saudi Arabia have also evaporated. Al Ahli, a potential suitor for the Nigerian striker, chose to sign Brentford’s Ivan Toney on deadline day instead.   The collapse of the Chelsea deal is compounded by a significant breakdown in Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli. Romano reported that if no new bid arrives before the Saudi League transfer window closes—Osimhen risks being frozen out of Napoli’s first-team squad. “Deal completely OFF for Victor Osimhen. No agreement with Chelsea and the Chelsea delegation now leaving Napoli. If nothing happens from Saudi next 3 days, Osimhen will stay at Napoli but he’s NOT gonna be part of the first-team squad. A French retiree goes on trial Monday accused of recruiting dozens of strangers online to rape his wife after he drugged her into unconsciousness, in a case that has horrified the country. Fifty other men are also on trial in the southern city of Avignon alongside the main suspect, a 71-year-old former employee at France’s power utility EDF. They are accused of raping the woman who, her lawyers say, was so heavily sedated that she was not aware of the abuse. The trial will be “a horrible ordeal” for the woman, now in her 70s, and who does not wish to be identified, said Antoine Camus, one of her lawyers. “For the first time, long after the fact, she will have to live through the rapes that she endured over 10 years,” he told AFP, adding that his client had “no recollection” of the abuses which she only discovered in 2020. The woman could have asked for the tr...

VIDEO: ‘Cement Dealers Frustrated Plans To Slash Cement Price To ₦3,500’, Says BUA Boss

Image
The Chairman of BUA Cement Plc, Abdulsamad Rabiu has related how cement dealers frustrated his company’s plan to sell cement at  ₦ 3,500 per bag last year.  Rabiu who spoke at the 8th Annual General Meeting of the company on Thursday, said cement prices would have dropped to as low as ₦3,500 per bag were it not for large appetites of profiteering dealers. He added that the devaluation of the naira devaluation in 2023 and the fuel subsidy removal also played roles in making the policy unsustainable. Rabiu stated: “So, a lot of the dealers took advantage of that policy. Rather than pass the low prices to the customers, they were selling at even double the price we sold to them. “Some were selling at N7,000 and 8,000 per bag. They made a lot of money with a very high margin. I think we had sold more than a million tons at N3,500 before we realised what the dealers were doing. “And then, because of the issues that Nigeria faced at the time about devaluation of the Naira las...
